There I was, all set to return & record a show this week… and then I turned on the PC. It wouldn’t boot up. Two days later, I had it booting, but it froze & locked up as soon as it got to the desktop. I’ve just spent hours over the last two days trying to resolve that with no luck and I suspect a new HDD will be required.

So – foiled by technology. The recording software only exists on my PC, and the laptop doesn’t have the audio inputs required for my mixer & effects processor. I therefore have no way to put the show together at the moment.

I’ll hopefully have this resolved in the next week or two (fingers crossed) – apologies for this unintended extension to my period of absence. I’ll be back as soon as I can.

A very hot night, and a very hot selection (naturally) to go with it. I suspect the baking temperature in the ‘studio’ affected the sound quality at one stage, and the mixer had to take a bit of a prod to get things back on the level again…

You may have noticed that I’ve not done a podcast for a few weeks. The reason for this was initially tiredness, then the Easter holidays, then a week off! However, during the last two weeks when I’ve been absent, I’ve had the pest controller in and had two separate treatments a week apart for my old nemesis.

As a result, the ‘studio’ has been out of bounds (both from the fumes and the fact that the room is in total disarray) and I’ve been unable to record anything. I tried using the built-in mic on the laptop to do something, but the sound was so appallingly bad that I abandoned the idea.

Hopefully this’ll be the last podcast-free week as today was the final treatment (fingers crossed, anyway).
