Metropol – My Own Gravity
With a great Keane / Coldplay influenced-sound slathered in lashings of sparkling electric piano, this is a real post-Christmas cracker from Spain’s Metropol who hail from Valencia. Watch you don’t dance into Granny and knock her flying as you get right into this !

A band I found on the Podsafe Music Network, this happy bunch of ex-pat Aussies now resident in Brighton in the UK are the perfect end to your TFL exercise routine for this festive season. They definitely know how it feels to be alive – which is how you should be feeling after shaking yer bahookies aff !

Relief all round ! I’d just spent the best part of two hours putting the show together and the application hung when I came to save the finished file. It then managed to hang the PC and a hard reboot was the only solution. I thought I’d lost the whole thing and I was about to throw in the towel – fortunately, by some Christmas miracle the auto-save had been working away and I was able to recover the whole show. Phew ! Sit back and enjoy this year’s Christmas special with your mince pies, sherry and slippers. There’s some punk, some rock, some alt-country, some pop and lashings of cheese ! See you next week after the big day’s been and gone. Seasons Greetings one and all.

I’m afraid that family commitments once again mean that this week’s show is slightly lighter on the chat, and consequently a little shorter than usual. Think of this situation as a pre-Christmas treat before I hit my stride on the Christmas show, fuelled by mulled wine and an overwhelming sense of demob-happiness. Come that time you’ll probably be wishing that I was a bit less waffly and a bit quieter ! In the meantime, enjoy the return of a recent favourite and two newcomers to Three From Leith !

Au4 – Hit and Miss
Another track which was brought to my attention on the wonderful Well Made Music podcast, hosted by Neil and created about a mile and a half along the road from the TFL studios. Bands which can create these soaring, haunting, layered choral vocals are a rare treat – when I find them (like gold at the end of a rainbow), it’s real treasure. Seagull Strange – Sullas Return
A band who emailed me out of the blue with the request that anyone could forward on this free track to friends, family and acquaintances to help spread the word, Seagull Strange ride the sea breezes with a great hook and an instantly memorable melody. Posing in a smart bar for their publicity pic just adds to their classiness.
