Show 109 – The Alternatives Are…

October 9th, 2007

Listen here or use the player on the right, though I’d love you to subscribe !

A rather alternative, mixed collection this week – possibly as a result of my brain melting and running out of my ears during a 2-day course at work at the start of the week ! Punk-tinged American alt-rock, Scottish alt-country pop and American indie alternative rock. Just the right blend to tantalise your eardrums as you skip through the park, kicking up the autumnal carpet of leaves.

Show 108 – Stroke the T

October 2nd, 2007

Listen here or use the player on the right, though I’d love you to subscribe !

What do you get when you put together two exclusives and two tracks from two loons, and then throw in a cuppa ? Well, you get this week’s terrific tracks on Three From Leith. With a little weather chat, news on spreading the word about podsafe bands by wearing their apparel on dress-down days and more amiable waffling, what more could you want on a chilly autumnal Tuesday ?

Show 107 – Edinburgh Sarnie

September 25th, 2007

Listen here or use the player on the right, though I’d love you to subscribe !

This week’s show is a Norwegian sandwich on crusty Floydian bread with a rich, tasty Edinburgh filling. It’s quite an eclectic spread, and utterly delicious. I couldn’t get enough of it. Next week – expect some rather hearty soup and more terrible puns. In the meantime, check out the links to this week’s bands as there’s a generous free EP from Airbag !

Show 106 – Sweet-Sounding Sibilance

September 18th, 2007

Listen here or use the player on the right, though I’d love you to subscribe !

Magical music from three female-fronted bands for you to savour this week, and all from countries beginning with the letter ‘S’ – South Africa, Scotland and Sweden. Coincidence or some very cunning show planning from yours truly ? Well, that WOULD be telling. Some things are best kept secret, but the result is sweet. Sample it and see.

Show 105 – Have You Played The Sausage Game ?

September 11th, 2007

Listen here or use the player on the right, though I’d love you to subscribe !

This is exclusives week – the show has two, or quite possibly three, tracks that are receiving their first podcast airings on Three From Leith. Each one is a little cracker – this is a show that I had so much fun putting together as I got to listen to the tracks again and again before, during and after recording. See what you think; huge thanks to my friend Freddy and my friends The Hussys for the privilige – I’m honoured.

Call me “Mr Radio 5 Live Ident Man” !

September 5th, 2007

Who is that Pods & Blogs ident superhero ? Sarge ? No. Rosemary, the telephone operator ? No. Penry, the mild-mannered janitor ? Could be – but it’s not. It’s me getting a little bit of national radio exposure (well, on the podcast of the show) for Three From Leith and hopefully also for the music of Larry Guild (who’s already on a roll with the Beeb – playing on a special show to celebrate their move to their new Pacific Quay HQ).

They’re looking for other bloggers and podcaster to do likewise, so check out their site for details and get your mics and recording software ready !

Here’s the show details:

Blog http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/podsandblogs
Podcast http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/podcasts/pods

if you wanted to go and check it out. I’ve subscribed now as I didn’t know about it before and it’s a typically excellent BBC programme bringing you the best stories around podcasting and blogging from across the world. It’s a great addition to my iRiver.

Show 104 – Dust Off The Cobwebs

September 4th, 2007

Listen here or use the player on the right, though I’d love you to subscribe !

OK – let me try and get started once again ! This time, hopefully, there will be no further unexpected events that disrupt a week’s recording schedule in future. Time to shake the cobwebs out of your head, dust off the remnants of what was summer and enjoy some out-and-out rock. Turn it all the way up to 11…
