Sorry folks – there’ll be no show this coming week. Normal service should be resumed next week.
*** EDIT – the problem has been resolved and the file is now available. Thanks for standing by ! ***
There seems to be a problem getting Show 141 via iTunes – no idea what the problem is this time, but this is really starting to get annoying.
Please either download it directly or hang in there while I tear my hair out trying to get it sorted out…
For some reason that I can’t fathom, iTunes hasn’t picked up show 139 from last week. It’s shown up everywhere else I normally check, so I’m not sure what the issue is. Until I can get it fixed, please use the download link in the shownotes to grab the file. Apologies for the inconvenience.
I knew that my usual recording Friday was out last week because Jasna was coming for an extra night, so I planned to record on Thursday. And then on Thursday afternoon I got a phone call out of the blue from my best pal who was up from England for a few days, asking if we could go out that night. Result – my recording window for the week had been closed. As ever, feel free to raid the extensive show archive for your weekly fix of great independent music until normal service is resumed next week.
Just to let everyone know that there won’t be a regular Three From Leith this week – work and Christmas events have overtaken me and I have to start getting on with the Christmas show since I want to get it out before the big day !
So – next stop will be your annual dose of festive fun and frivolity courtesy of TFL. Keep checking those feeds….
I had to come home from work early on my usual recording day (Friday) with a completely seized-up and painful neck, so I wasn’t able to do anything more than sit stock-still on the sofa, dosed up on medication and applying heat to the area.
The rest of the weekend was spent taking it easy and recovering, so I didn’t get a chance to sit down and record at all.
I’ll be back bright and breezy next week; in the meantime, why not take a trawl through the archives and treat yourself to another ‘golden oldie’ moment ? Until then….
The feed problems that some listeners may have been experiencing have been resolved. Apologies for the delay in getting this ironed out !
Who is that Pods & Blogs ident superhero ? Sarge ? No. Rosemary, the telephone operator ? No. Penry, the mild-mannered janitor ? Could be – but it’s not. It’s me getting a little bit of national radio exposure (well, on the podcast of the show) for Three From Leith and hopefully also for the music of Larry Guild (who’s already on a roll with the Beeb – playing on a special show to celebrate their move to their new Pacific Quay HQ).
They’re looking for other bloggers and podcaster to do likewise, so check out their site for details and get your mics and recording software ready !
Here’s the show details:

if you wanted to go and check it out. I’ve subscribed now as I didn’t know about it before and it’s a typically excellent BBC programme bringing you the best stories around podcasting and blogging from across the world. It’s a great addition to my iRiver.
Due to a series of unexpected events, my normal recording time for the show has come and gone this week without me being around or able to put anything together. Huge apologies – hopefully things will have settled down by the end of next week so I can get a show together.
So that you don’t feel too abandoned, I will probably put up a golden-oldie TFL show or, if I get a spare hour, I may quickly record a brief intro to three songs by a specific artist and put that up so you have something original.
Please bear with me – I have some great new music all piling up and ready to play and I aim to get the ball rolling again next week, unforeseen circumstances permitting. (Note to self – build up a small set of reserve shows for situations such as this in future !!)
I just finished watching the latest episode of Heroes that I recorded on BBC Three last night. Afterwards, there was a promo trailer for some BBC Three shows, accompanied by some very familiar music… “You ! Me! Dancing!” by Los Campesinos, as featured on Show 99.
“Three”, as their old ad used to sing, “is a magic number”.
